FinTech brings open banking benefits to corporates

North West FinTech scale-up AccessPay has launched a new treasury solution for corporates using open banking.  Enabled by Yapily, an open banking infrastructure provider, it will provide thousands of UK businesses real-time visibility into their cash position and transaction flows. 

The integration enables AccessPay users to connect and aggregate their entire corporate banking estate at the click of a button, which the firm says decreases the time-to-value for corporates from months to minutes.

In fact, close to 10 per cent of digitally active HSBC UK customers are using Open Banking services, with the number growing all the time. We have been looking at how we can integrate this fantastic technology protocol.

We have seen applications across current accounts and unsecured lending products, where it has made a real difference making life quicker, easier and safer and I am extremely excited to now see Open Banking being integrated into our mortgage process in a small but important way that will see the time it takes to go through the underwriting process being much reduced for self-employed applicants.

Open data on malaria genomes will help combat drug resistance

Genome variation data on more than 7,000 malaria parasites from 28 endemic countries is released today (24 February) in Wellcome Open Research. It has been produced by MalariaGEN, a data-sharing network of groups around the world who are working together to build high-quality data resources for malaria research and disease control.

This open data release represents the world’s largest resource of genomic data on malaria parasite evolution and drug resistance. It provides benchmark data on parasite genome variation that is needed in the search for new drugs and vaccines, and in the development of surveillance tools for malaria control and elimination.

There was dial-up, there was expensive cellular data, and there was some service from an internet provider in a neighboring town; when the network went down, it would sometimes take weeks for a technician to come and fix the issue.
