The Five Ways To Build Machine Learning Models

Machine learning is powering most of the recent advancements in AI, including computer vision, natural language processing, predictive analytics, autonomous systems, and a wide range of applications. Machine learning systems are core to enabling each of these seven patterns of AI.

In order to move up the data value chain from the information level  to the knowledge level, we need to apply machine learning that will enable systems to identify patterns in data and learn from those patterns to apply to new, never before seen data. Machine learning is not all of AI, but it is a big part of it.

Open source software helps researchers extract key insights from huge sensor datasets

Professor Andreas Schütze and his team of experts in measurement and sensor technology at Saarland University are making available a free data processing tool that represents the very essence of a large number of their research projects. The software package – called simply ‘Dave’ – is a MATLAB toolbox that allows rapid evaluation of signals, pattern recognition and data visualization when processing huge datasets.

The free software enables very large volumes of data, such as those produced by modern sensor systems, to be processed, analysed and visually displayed very rapidly, so that researchers can optimize their measurement systems interactively.

Ohio Supercomputer Center releases open-source HPC access portal

An innovative web-based portal for accessing high performance computing services has matured beyond the beta phase and now is available to HPC centers worldwide. The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) has launched Open OnDemand 1.0, an open-source version of OSC OnDemand, the Center’s online, single-point-of-entry application for HPC services.

Open OnDemand is an NSF-funded project to develop a widely shareable web portal that provides HPC centers with advanced web and graphical interface capabilities. Through OnDemand, HPC clients can upload and download files, create, edit, submit and monitor jobs, run GUI applications and connect via SSH, all via a web browser, with no client software to install and configure.
