In a paper published by the International Journal of High Performance Computing Applications, the scholars ported LAMMPS on the new open-source GPU technology, AMD HIP, for the first time.

Amazon announces it’s open sourcing DeepRacer device software

When Amazon debuted AWS DeepRacer in 2018, it was meant as a fun way to help developers learn machine learning. While it has evolved since and incorporated DeepRacer competitions, today the company announced it was adding a new wrinkle. It’s open sourcing the software the company created to run these miniature cars.

At its core, the DeepRacer car is a mini computer running Ubuntu Linux and Robot Operating System (ROS), both open source components. The company believes that by opening up the device software to developers, it will encourage more creative uses of the car by enabling them to change the car’s default behavior.

You Don’t Have To Be A Rocket (Or Quantum) Scientist To Design A Quantum Computer Chip Using IBM’s New Tool Called Qiskit Metal

Intuitively, almost everyone can appreciate how difficult and knowledge-intensive it is to design, develop, analyze, and simulate a quantum computer chip. Without years of education and training, it seems almost impossible to create such a complicated device. Until recently, even experienced researchers needed weeks or even months to design a simple quantum chip from start to finish.

After an initial soft launch in late 2020, IBM officially released its new open-source design automation software Qiskit Metal in March 2021.  Qiskit Metal is the first software to automate the design of superconducting devices. IBM is looking at eventually expanding its use from superconducting to other quantum technologies as well.

The partnership will leverage Scan the World’s expertise in open data and 3D printing technologies and Google Arts & Culture’s storytelling platform to put 3D printable artefacts in the hands of enthusiasts, educators, and artists.

Data archived on the Google Arts & Culture platform will be viewable in 3D, with STL files able to be downloaded from Scan the World on 3D file marketplace MyMiniFactory’s website.
